About Abdex
Established by the Chairman Duncan Bain, in 1974, Abdex Hose & Couplings Ltd has progressively evolved into a leading specialist manufacturer of high and low pressure hose assemblies.
During the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s, Abdex predominately supplied the commercial vehicle industry with low and medium pressure Goodyear rubber hose assemblies and accessories. Large volumes of air brake, power steering, cab tilt and clutch pipe assemblies were supplied to the leading British manufacturers of Heavy Goods Vehicles.
In 1999, Duncan’s son, Oliver Bain ( the current Managing director ), joined the company. At this time Abdex was expanding into new markets using high pressure thermoplastic hose. Since then Abdex has become a volume producer of assemblies for the beverage, heavy lifting and water jetting markets. Abdex has also expanded into Export markets which today equates to 40% of their business.
In 2005 Abdex started working with Parker Hannifin and soon became a major specialist distributor for Parker Polyflex products. In 2006, we were certified by Parker to assemble their ultra high pressure hoses with working pressures up to 40,000psi ( 2800bar ). Today, we supply up to 10,000 assemblies per month to many diverse markets including: beverage dispense; lifting equipment; offshore, CNG & LPG fuel hoses; water jetting and blasting, torque wrenching, bolt tensioning, pharmaceutical, chemical and many more…
Also in 2005, Abdex Industries in Melbourne Australia was established to service our growing overseas customer base. Today they manufacture and distribute high and ultra pressure hose assemblies up to 3000bar working pressure, together with health and safety anti-slip/anti-fatigue products for various markets throughout the southern hemisphere, including mining, heavy lifting, beverage, cutting, water jetting, airports, quarries and many more.
The introduction of a Parkerstore in early 2009 into the Abdex UK site has enabled us to service local businesses in the Bedfordshire area, which has complimented our volume production. Supplying only the highest quality products, we can offer a flexible approach to local requirements using our expertise and experience.
