New service from Leighton business with an international reach
Abdex Hose and Couplings is a Leighton Buzzard company with a very long reach. Their products are employed in settings as different as pub cellars, in ‘jaws of life’ rescue equipment, on farm machinery and in handling the extreme forces needed for water jetting. From the team of seven, up to 10,000 pipe assemblies leave the Commerce Way (off Stanbridge Road) premises per month, with around 40% being exported. Contrary to the wider economic problems, demand remains healthy for Abdex and a very recent order from China has further added to their customer base.
Approaching ten years in the family-owned business, Oliver Bain is managing director of the company founded by his father in 1974 who subsequently set up the company’s Melbourne-based Australian operation.
In a new venture aimed at more local and immediate demand, Abdex formally launches its ParkerStore outlet at the Leighton Buzzard site with an open day event, noon to 4.00pm on Friday 3 April. Service at ParkerStore means that those needing accessories and replacements on pneumatic or hydraulic equipment can quickly be back in operation. If necessary, components can be tailor-made to specific demands on the spot, with Abdex’s experienced staff on hand for help and advice as required.
